The Oklahoma Highway Patrol began another sweep of homeless camps on state property in Tulsa on Monday.
No arrests were made, but people were moved from sites cleared out a month ago. The state returned to half of the 64 sites cleared in September to move people out and clean up the trash.
Those being moved say they have nowhere else to go.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol arrived on I-244 near Lewis early Monday morning, ordering homeless people to clear out of campsites. Those present were given time to gather their belongings. Those not present lost whatever was left behind.
Barry Stites, a homeless individual, said, “They can’t keep pushing us away. We have nowhere to go. We’re running out of spots to go, and no one will help us.”
