BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy has installed the state’s first carbon dioxide pipeline training prop, eliminating the need for firefighters to travel to Texas for specialized training.
Through a two-year-long collaboration between ExxonMobil, the Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy, the pipeline prop was installed at the FETA’s campus in Baton Rouge. State Fire Marshal Bryan Adams said firefighters previously had to travel to Texas A&M University for similar training.
“Actually, we were sending firefighters and first responders to Texas A&M, where they have this similar prop where they do that training. So now we’re trying to bring it home,” Adams said.
