Jamie Wallace-Griner’s journey of uniting pets and children to inspire healing began with one boy and one dog. Nearly 12 years ago, Wallace-Griner welcomed Angel, a great pyrenees dog, into her home as her son’s autism service dog. Angel changed their entire lives, Wallace-Griner said, instantly showing her what could happen when animals and children connect with each other.

The catalyst

“We started rescuing just out of appreciation for their relationship,” Wallace-Griner said. “It wasn't until years later when we realized we had more than 100 special needs animals and a [waiting] list of people that we met through the community of special needs parents that wanted to come meet them that we realized we were a nonprofit.”
