NEWPORT -- The Oceanside Mariners spoiled the Nokomis Warriors senior day with a 6-1 victory.

Just ten minutes into the first half, the Mariners pushed into the offensive zone. After a nice pass found senior Aidan Willis in front of the net, he tapped it in for the easy score to take a 1-0 lead.

Later in the first, Elliot Trott put his name on the scoresheet with a nice shot from outside that was out of reach for the Warriors goalkeeper. That would extend the lead to 2-0.

Nokomis gave their best effort at the end of the half when a lead pass bounced in front of senior captain Gabe Later who drew the Mariners goaltender out of the net, and then laid the ball into the net to bring the Warriors back within one.

The Mariners would go on to score four unanswered goals in the second half,
