The votes were still coming in Tuesday but Edmonton city council is poised to be mostly filled with familiar faces.
The city’s business community is hopeful that its cries for change leading up to the election were heard by returning council members and a new mayor, warning that shrewd policy choices over the next four years may not be glamorous.
“For lack of a better term, it’s going to be a very unsexy four years, where hard decisions are going to have to be made. We’re not going to be talking about the big, beautiful infrastructure projects that get to get done. We’re going to have to talk about making some tough choices in order to get things on track,” said Edmonton Chamber of Commerce (ECC) president and CEO, Doug Griffiths.
