ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A new book is shedding light on one of Elmira's notorious cold case murders, the 1964 killing of 12-year-old Mary Theresa Simpson.
Simpson's body was found in a wooded area on Combs Hill Road in Elmira on March 15, 1964. Despite multiple investigations over the decades, her case remains unsolved.
The book, "What Happened to Me? Ecploring the Mary Theresa Simpson Cold Case," released in September 2025, takes a closer look at the original investigatio and the family's long search for answers.
It also highlights other local homicide cases, offering a broader look at how such tragedies have shaped the Elmira community.
