In January, the Erie VA Medical Center broke ground on an 11,000 square-foot, $18.5 million expansion to its facility on East 38th Street, with goals to bring 37 more exam rooms and expand access to care for the veteran community.
Almost a year later, construction workers continue to build up the foundation of the new wing, but come the start of next year, the project will force the building's main entrance to close, opening up two other entrances around the property.
"Our veterans will be parking on campus wherever they can find a spot. There will be some in the back, some in the garage, so they're going to need some additional assistance in getting into the medical center," said Karen O’Neal, Chief of Voluntary Services at the Erie VA Medical Center.
