The ACLU of Oregon has filed a lawsuit against the City of Eugene over the decision not to disclose the locations of the city's Flock cameras .
The suit filed Oct. 20 appeals a denied public records request asking where the city installed Automated License Plate Reader cameras.
ALPR cameras take photos of passing cars. The photos are then stored for a period of time (in Eugene's case 30 days) for police use. Residents of Eugene and Springfield have voiced opposition, raising concerns about privacy and data sharing , which led to Eugene turning its cameras off Oct. 14.
