The Vancouver Canucks are grappling with a significant injury crisis as four players remain sidelined. There is currently no update on their statuses, nor is there any news regarding Brock Boeser’s personal leave. Filip Chytil, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, and Teddy Blueger all sustained injuries during a game against the Washington Capitals on Sunday, which the Canucks won 4-3. Chytil is dealing with a head injury, Lekkerimaki has a right shoulder and arm injury, and Blueger is out with a left leg injury. Both Chytil and Lekkerimaki were placed on injured reserve on Monday morning. Blueger has been ruled out for Tuesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins but has not yet been placed on injured reserve. Chytil’s situation is particularly concerning, as he has a history of concussions, with six reported incidents, including one last spring after joining the Canucks. Reports indicate that the team may consider placing Chytil on season-ending long-term injured reserve. This move would allow the Canucks to replace his salary, as it would declare him unable to return until next season. J.P. Berry, Chytil’s agent, expressed concern about the player’s long-term health. "I’ve been kept up to date by the team every day, and he is being monitored. We are always very concerned after a significant bodycheck like this one," Berry stated in an email. Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin also provided a brief update, saying the players are "still being evaluated." In addition to the three players, defenseman Derek Forbort is also on injured reserve. Allvin noted that the team needed a roster spot but did not elaborate on Forbort’s injury. He mentioned that a further determination on Forbort’s status would be made by the weekend. The Canucks are scheduled to host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday at Rogers Arena and will play in Nashville on Thursday to conclude their current road trip. Nils Hoglander is the fifth injured player, having undergone surgery on a damaged ankle. He was seen using crutches in the days leading up to the trip and is expected to be out until at least mid-November.
