NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A cold front is making its way south through the region this evening, bringing a few scattered showers and maybe a rumble of thunder before things quiet down later tonight. Once the front clears the coast early Wednesday, we’ll start to feel the effects of a much drier and cooler air mass moving in. Dew points, which are sitting in the mid to upper 60s right now, will tumble through the 50s overnight and into the 40s by Wednesday. By the afternoon, some northern spots could even see humidity drop to around 25%—a reminder that fire danger could tick up a bit, even though winds will stay light around 10 mph.
