FARGO — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is getting a new tool, but this one helps them fight fires instead of criminals.

The device is called a Fire Suppression Tool, or FST.

It works by being thrown into a fire, where it creates a mist to suppress the fire.

The manufacturer says the mist it deploys is safe the breath.

The FST weighs just over 11 pounds and is rated to cover an area of 5,300 cubic feet.
