LOWER MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A proposal in Lower Manhattan is getting people talking around a special landmark.
Multiple roads and lanes intersect as pedestrians and cyclists look for their paths.
Bowery meets East Broadway and Worth Street in the shadow of Chatham Square and the Kimlau War Memorial.
The city has unveiled a concept design for the plaza and surrounding roads.
Ya-Ting Liu is New York City’s Chief Public Realm Officer. "No New Yorker stands here and thinks it works. Pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists see many crossings and intersections. It's hard to figure out where to go," Liu said.
The city is considering moving the public plaza to the west side and making it twice as big. The arch, which is being refurbished by an NYC Parks project, would remain in its position
