A new online offering allows the public to peer into the eyes of President Abraham Lincoln and read letters drafted in the 16th U.S. president's own handwriting.
The Rolland Center for Lincoln Research at Allen County Public Library has launched the state-of-the-art interactive virtual tour, officials announced Tuesday. The project was funded by the Friends of the Lincoln Collection of Indiana.
The digital resource is designed to expand access to its Lincoln Collection for teachers and students, history enthusiasts and scholars, and interested others from around the local community, across the country and the world, a news release said.
The technology allows users to explore the center remotely, bridging the gap for those who cannot travel from area classrooms or more distant locations.
