CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Two local mothers who use SNAP to help feed their families are worried about the impact of the government shutdown.
Destinee Primm and Vernecia Edwards-Ray told us they are getting by as it is, and the prospect of not having the SNAP safety net is adding new concerns about how they will feed their kids.
“It’s very scary to think about.”
The mothers said uncertainty about their next SNAP benefit payout is a fear they never thought they would have to face.
“I was just sitting at the table and thinking about it this morning, ‘Now okay, now I have to sit down and make a new budget for next month because I have to figure out where I’m gonna put certain funds now,’” said Primm.
