The B.C. General Employees Union and the province have now spent four days in non-binding mediation under the gaze of mediator Vince Ready, but so far there have been few updates on the process and both sides are keeping silent about their positions.

Experts familiar with the mediation process say each labour negotiation is different, but that Ready is known for getting agreements even in the toughest of circumstances. If he feels there is a deal close, he won’t let the government or the BCGEU rest until it’s done.
