A motorist was killed and another seriously injured in a two-car collision at a Wildomar intersection, authorities said Tuesday.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday at Olive and Grape streets, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Sgt. Brad Foster said the vehicles impacted in the middle of the intersection, but the circumstances were still under investigation.

“Deputies located both drivers trapped inside their vehicles,” Foster said. “With assistance from Cal Fire, the drivers were extricated.”

Both were taken to nearby Inland Valley Medical Center in critical condition. One of the motorists died hours later. The victim’s identity was not disclosed.

The other driver, whose name also wasn’t released, remained in serious condition Tuesday.
