An earnest "thank you" might be the last thing a police officer expects to hear after issuing a speeding ticket.

However, a police station in the Chicago suburbs received a pleasant surprise earlier this month after one of their officers performed a traffic stop.

"I am so sorry for speeding and deserve this ticket," a man wrote in a letter to the Palos Park Police Department last week, also mentioning that the officer who pulled him over was "extremely kind" and "professional."

Palos Park police posted the letter on Facebook, expressing gratitude for the man's kindness.
