Veteran weightlifter Raghbir Dhaliwal earned third place overall in the 65 kg division at the Island Invitational in Nanaimo, a competition that featured lifters from across British Columbia and several western provinces.

Competing in the Masters 70–74 age category, Port Alberni's Dhaliwal broke his own provincial records in the Snatch, Clean and Jerk, and Total, adding another milestone to his remarkable athletic career. Earlier this summer, in July, he also secured second place at the Canadian Masters Championships in Calgary, narrowly missing the gold medal.
