DANDRIDGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A new development proposal aims to bring a mix of homes and businesses to Dandridge.

However, it requires rezoning 23 acres of land located off Highway 25/70 near Food City.

While leaders suggest this development could offer much-needed amenities to Dandridge, not all residents are on board. Wes Wimberly expressed concern about the potential changes to the town’s character.

“It’s going to change. It’s not going to be the Dandridge that people knew it to be,” Wimberly said, referring to the mixed-use development proposal.

Developer Jimmy Singh of Team BIR said the rezoning is crucial for adding housing to the area. The plans include a commercial section at the front with retail and self-storage, and 137 multi-family homes, consisting of townhomes and apartments
