JEFFERSON CITY — WNBA star Sophie Cunningham took time in the off season to support her friend's vision to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

For the first time in the history of Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School, a volleyball court sat on the 50-yard line of the football field.

The Jays adopted the idea from Nebraska volleyball to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Jefferson City volleyball head coach Ali Eskens grew up with Cunningham and asked her to attend the event.

"She texted me and was like, 'Hey if you're home, I'm having the first outdoor volleyball game,' and I was like, 'Heck yeah, that's awesome,'" Cunningham said.

"I just got goosebumps; this is incredible," Eskens said as she looked at the court out on the football field on Oct. 7.
