The University of Charleston’s Chloe Fortner took home Mountain East Conference volleyball defensive player of the week honors, the league announced Monday.

Fortner produced 20 or more digs in two of the Golden Eagles’ three league victories last week. She put up 20 digs and seven assists against West Virginia State and tallied 25 digs in just three sets against Fairmont State.

Other MEC athletes of the week included:

Concord’s Malher Santi Possu (men’s soccer, offensive) and Adam Leibowitz (men’s soccer, defensive)

Fairmont State’s Ethan Vargo-Thomas (football, special teams) and Vlad Fedoseev (men’s swimmer)

Frostburg State’s Jordan Brooks (football, co-offensive), Rainer Haveland (football, defensive), Kayla Doty (women’s soccer, defensive) and Genna Rippeon (women’s swimmer)
