A pharmacy in Chester County was fined $1 million and put on probation after compounding and distributing around 30,000 doses of an injectable weight-loss drug without authorization or inspection, Gov. Josh Shapiro's administration announced on Tuesday.

According to officials, Boothwyn Pharmacy on Gale Lane in Kennett Square was producing around 1,000 doses a day of the drug GLP-1, which is found in popular weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy.

The compounding and production of the drugs was taking place in the pharmacy's two buildings in Kennett Square, which were never inspected or authorized as a drug processing facility, officials said.
