Victorian senator Lidia Thorpe has referred Northern Territory Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby to the NT's corruption watchdog following allegations of government interference in the media activities of the NT Supreme Court.
A leaked email from top judge Chief Justice Michael Grant — published last week in a Sydney-based law journal — asked the NT Attorney-General's Department not to interfere with the court's media communications.
Chief Justice Grant sent the email to the acting CEO of the department, Leonique Swart, as he believed the Supreme Court's media was blocked from sending a media statement to The Australian newspaper.
