SOUTHWEST HARBOR -- Folks in the town of Southwest Harbor are gearing up to vote in their local election in a matter of weeks. One question on their ballot is the result of hard work by a group of citizens, and many of the others have to do with local public health.

"We feel so strongly that public health is a priority of our board, and we want our citizens to be protected from anything that could potentially negatively affect their health," said select board chair Noah Burby.

One of these public health issues to appear on the ballot is a citizens initiative to tackle a landfill that has been very concerning for some residents.
