IRONDALE, Ala. (WIAT) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the city of Irondale honored those affected by the disease Tuesday night.

Irondale City Council members heard stories from breast cancer survivors and the families of those who had a loved one die because of the cancer. Irondale Mayor James Stewart Jr. said three city buildings will be lit pink through the rest of the month.

The city will be hosting the 2025 Pink Power Walk at city hall Saturday. Registration starts at 7 a.m., with the opening ceremony commencing an hour later. The two-mile walk is slated for 8:30 a.m.

It is free to participate, though donations will go toward breast cancer research. For more information, click here.
