The Car Nicobar–Kamorta segment of the CANI Submarine Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) , which had developed a snag on 20th September 2025 at around 3:32 PM, has now been successfully repaired , restoring the crucial undersea communication link that connects Nancowry and Great Nicobar to the rest of the world.

According to sources, the link was temporarily restored during the intervening night of 21st and 22nd October, and several users at Campbell Bay reported that their BSNL FTTH broadband connections were active from around 11:45 PM to approximately 1:45 AM . The link was subsequently turned off.

Nicobar Times had earlier reported that the Cable Repair Ship ASEAN Restorer had been working to rectify the fault in the Car Nicobar–K
