WICHITA, Kan (KSNW) - On Tuesday, the Senate Commerce Committee passed an act to make skies safer following the death of 67 people on flight 5342.
The Senate Commerce Committee passed the Rotor Act, which would require all planes to be equipped with ADS-B technology. The tech shares an aircraft's GPS position, altitude, and ground speed with air traffic control.
"It should not take a tragedy to get us to this point, and I'm grateful that this committee is taking steps to address recent accidents as well as taking a proactive approach to aviation safety," Sen. Jerry Moran said.
