PICKENS, S.C. —
The annexation for a 140-home development in Pickens, South Carolina, was approved by city council at a special meeting on Tuesday night.
According to the city, the development, which is located near the intersection of Wolf Creek School Road and Mauldin Lake Road , has the potential to expand the city's tax base, strengthen public services, and ensure long-term growth at no additional cost to existing taxpayers.
The Mayor Pro Tem of Pickens, Cameron Rivers, was the only vote against the development.
Rivers said, "I'm concerned about the water issues and just infrastructure in that area, how it would impact it and also citizens concerns ."
