KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police are investigating after a Jackson County Detention Center inmate died on Tuesday.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, Oct. 19. the Kansas City Fire Department was called to the detention center in regards to a medical emergency.
The inmate was a 44-year-old man from Independence. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
On Tuesday, the sheriff's office was notified that the inmate died.
Investigations revealed that no physical interaction between the inmate and corrections officers took place.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the inmate's death.
