WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) — Progress is being made on construction for Waterloo's new United High School, with a focus on the performing arts center.

The community getting an early look at what the future will hold as the walls began to go up. Alisha Schmitz, the senior project manager with Larson Construction, shared insights about the construction timeline.

"We would definitely like the warm weather back but this has been great getting everything started." Schmitz said.

She noted that the precast structures will take about two months to complete, with the entire project expected to finish in May 2028. Emily Frederick is the director of school and community relations for the Waterloo Community School District. She emphasizes the importance of the new facility.
