The city's Zoning Board of Appeals was scheduled to discuss the proposal Tuesday night, which involved developing an empty lot near the busy intersection.

The withdrawal was announced by 'Save Our North End,' a group formed by local residents and businesses opposed to the plan, on social media.

The group thanked its supporters and community members for their efforts in opposing the car wash proposal.
