CHENNAI: The Regional Meteorological Centre has reported two significant weather systems influencing the region. A well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the Tamil Nadu coast is showing signs of intensification. The system, which moved northwestward from off the north Sri Lanka coast, lay centered near the Tamil Nadu coast this morning.
IMD forecasts indicate that it is likely to intensify into a depression over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off the north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts during the next 12 hours. Subsequently, it is expected to move inland across north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh within the following 12 hours.
