Columbia River sophomore Owen Winn beat out Washougal senior Trenton Maddox in the fifth hole of a playoff to capture the Class 2A District 4 boys golf championship Tuesday at Tumwater Valley Golf Course.

Winn shot a 2-over 74 in Tuesday’s second round to finish with an even-par 144 for 136 holes. Maddox shot a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to also finish at 144.

The two players played even for the first four holes of the playoff before Winn earned the win.

Maddox needed a birdie on No. 18 to force the playoff after a double-bogey on No. 17.

Washougal had all six players make the first-day cut, with Maddox and Gavin Shaffer finishing in the top five to win the district team title over River 176-169.

River also got top-10 finishes from Carsyn Howard (fifth) and Lucas Zgyar (sixth). Brody Newco
