SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Community School Corporation approved the sale of the old Marquette School building so it can be repurposed as a neighborhood center.
According to our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune , the board of trustees on Monday night unanimously approved the city to purchase the building and 2.7 acres of property for $60,750.
United Way will turn the area into a OneRoof Neighborhood Center, which will provide community programs for education and youth development.
Since the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, United Way of St. Joseph County says the upcoming plans will breathe new life into it while preserving its historic significance.
