Nuneaton's sports land is mourning the loss of one of its most well-known figures. Roland 'Wigger' Wilson was a name and face known to so many in the town's sporting circles.

But he was also from the golden age of local sports reporting, starting as a reporter at the former Nuneaton Evening Tribune. A die-hard Manchester United FC fan, when he first entered the world of local journalism, he reported on local teams.

He went on to be the sports editor at the Nuneaton Telegraph. Sadly, he died suddenly at his home in Weddington last week, aged 86.
