Assam CM Sarma asserted, adding that certain forces were trying to exploit public emotions for political gain.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has hit back at critics amid the continuing protests over the death of music icon Zubeen Garg, claiming that the agitation has lost its original purpose.
Speaking to reporters, CM Sarma suggested that political motives are now fuelling the movement.
“If I resign today, 50% of the protests will stop immediately. And if Gaurav Gogoi is made Chief Minister, the remaining 50% will also end,” he said, implying that the protests are no longer about seeking justice for Zubeen.
“This protest is not for Zubeen’s justice,” the Chief Minister asserted, adding that certain forces were trying to exploit public emotions for political gain.
