LIBERTY COUNTY (WSAV) — Change is in the air for Liberty and Long Counties as a new Regional Director was selected for United Way. The change will bring support to thousands of local families.

Carissa Hendricks was selected in August as United Way's newest Regional County Director. A few weeks in, she feels grounded and ready to spark change. Her strong ties to Liberty County drive her to help her neighbors. Hendricks is stepping into the position after years of working directly with families in need and she has new goals to help her region.

The United Way helped more than 17,000 residents across Liberty and Long Counties in the past year, and they said they intend that impact to grow. Through its Backpack Buddies Program, nearly 300 students received weekend meals to help bridge the gap
