Kent County Council’s Reform leadership has been told to “get a grip” after it changed the terms of a financial plan to save two organisations which promote tourism and investment in the county.

A £500,000 agreement had been made between the authority and Medway Council to maintain operations at Visit Kent and Location in Kent, which announced they were closing down last month.

Medway’s Labour leadership had committed to contributing £50,000, but late Friday, KCC got in touch by email to say it wanted £100,000 instead.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting last night, Medway councillors hit out at Reform, saying its approach was “chaotic” and showed a lack of understanding of local government.
