The Ducks' tie-dye tribute to Grateful Dead has deep roots

Instead of the usual green, yellow or black out, Autzen Stadium will be hosting a sea of tie-dyed fans this Saturday for the Ducks' game against Wisconsin . The cloud of smoke over the student section might be thicker than usual because the game's theme is Grateful Ducks , a collaboration to showcase the history between the University of Oregon and the Grateful Dead.

Since the game was announced in late July, merchandise including t-shirts, special Nike sneakers, and sweatshirts has become available to Dead and Duck fans alike. The game on the 25th will be a "tie-dye out," giving game-goers a chance to wear their new gear and celebrate the long history of the Grateful Dead at the University of Oregon.
