WACO, Texas — A semi truck fire brought Interstate 35 traffic to a standstill Tuesday night, leaving some Waco-area drivers stuck for up to four hours.
The Waco Fire Department responded to the scene around 9 p.m. near South New Road, where they found an 18-wheeler engulfed in flames. The fire completely destroyed the vehicle, and officials were forced to close all northbound lanes while crews battled the blaze.
The closure created massive delays for drivers heading northbound through Waco. Multiple drivers on the roadway reported being trapped in the traffic jam for extended periods, with one person confirming to 6 News that they sat in their vehicle for at least four hours.
