Two individuals have been hospitalised following a collision. Police have confirmed that the incident resulted in a woman in her 70s being taken to hospital with "life-changing" injuries, and a man in his 60s also sustained serious injuries.

Previously, ChronicleLive reported that the woman was airlifted to hospital after the crash on Tuesday lunchtime, October 21. Northumbria Police has now confirmed that a man was also injured in the Northumberland incident.

A force spokesperson added that the A1068 between Warkworth and Alnmouth on the Northumberland coast was temporarily closed but has since reopened. "We received a report of a two-vehicle collision shortly before midday yesterday (Tuesday) on the roundabout of the A1068 in Hipsburn near Alnmouth," they said.
