A mum who initially dismissed her back pain as a pulled muscle was left stunned when scans revealed it was actually a symptom of breast cancer, caused by tumours fracturing her spine. Rachel McCormack, 38, had previously fought off stage two breast cancer in 2015 and was given the all-clear following chemotherapy and surgery, with annual mammograms keeping an eye on her health.
The Scarborough mum began to suffer from lower back pain in December 2024, but initially attributed it to muscle strain. After visiting her GP, she was referred for physiotherapy.
