The jury in the federal corruption trial of former deputy state budget director Konstantinos “Kosta” Diamantis will continue to deliberate on Wednesday.

Diamantis is accused of forcing two contractors to pay him bribes and for one to hire his daughter and, in exchange, using his position overseeing the state’s school construction program to get them work.

He has been charged with bribery, extortion and lying to investigators and faces 21 counts.

Diamantis said he took payments, but for services he did outside of his role with the state and never broke a law.
