A teenager has been charged in the burning of an American flag at a post office in Northampton, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, police said.
The 16-year-old was charged with vandalism, burning personal property, disorderly conduct and setting a fire in the open, the Northampton Police Department said Tuesday.

The fire at the Bridge Street post office was reported about 7:07 p.m.. and the officers who arrived at the scene found a burning flag, still on a flag pole. A black flag was next to it, attached at about the same height.
The teenager fled the scene but was taken into custody, according to police, who didn't share his name. Identities of juvenile criminal suspects typically aren't shared in Massachusetts.
