CHICAGO — A man is recovering in the hospital on Wednesday morning following an overnight home invasion and shooting on the West Side.
Chicago police say the incident unfolded at a home in the 2700 block of West Washington Boulevard in East Garfield Park.
According to police, officers were first called to the home just after midnight following a report of a home invasion.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, called police after he was awoken by a noise in his home and later discovered two masked individuals dressed in all black inside the home.
Simultaneously, as the resident encountered the alleged home intruders, two members of the victim's family, a 29-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, returned home.
