Shuniah residents curious about how a proposed battery energy storage facility may play out in their municipality may want to ponder a more advanced project nearing completion in southwestern Ontario.
A 300-megawatt battery energy-storage installation in Hagersville was touted earlier this month as the "clean power project of the year" by the industry's Canadian Renewable Energy Association.
The Hagersville facility, to encompass 15 acres of land, is a partnership between Quebec-based Boralex and the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corp.
It's expected to be operational by the end of this year, a Boralex spokeswoman said on Monday. The project's price tag wasn't immediately released.
