As the cost-of-living crisis deepens, Britain's beloved fish and chips are feeling the pinch, with the average price now reaching a record high of £11.23. That is up from £10.88 in 2024 - and some Brits are shelling out as much as £15 per portion.
A study by tombola analysed 240 of England's top-rated chippies to reveal the most and least affordable regions. West Yorkshire has been named the best value region for a chippy tea, boasting an average price of just £8.37 - £2.85 less than the national average.
Hot on its heels is Lancashire at £9.19, and the north proves to be the best value, with six of the 10 cheapest counties located above the Midlands, including Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Tyne and Wear and Cheshire.
