WILSON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Parents in Wilson County are being urged to test their children for lead poisoning.
Officials discovered a type of lead paint, which was banned in 1978, in some areas of Gardners Elementary.
The district confirmed that while lead paint is safe when intact, a recent state investigation found chips and flakes in some buildings.
The warning applies to children under six who attend the school. Parents are advised to conduct blood tests to ensure their children's safety.
