Mandurah’s Peel Community Kitchen has received a surprise $2000 donation from the locally based Royal Order of Scotland.
Kitchen chairperson Angelo Gangemi said the non-profit group had no idea the money was coming but was very grateful giving the timing.
“The timing was indeed fortuitous as so many people are finding it difficult to find a decent and nutritious meal in these difficult times that we are all facing,” Mr Gangemi said.
“Funding is of vital importance to us, we need around $100,000 from donations and grants every year and, for some reason, this year just has felt more difficult coming up with the money.
“Maybe it’s because so many new local charities seem to be springing up and offering very similar services, which is why every dollar counts.”
