The “most bashed” railway bridge in Britain has been hit for the third time in two weeks. It was only on Monday (October 20), that a van hit the railway bridge along Station Road in Ely .

Another van has hit the same bridge at around 1.50pm today (Wednesday, October 22). As a result, some train services may be delayed until further notice.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We have a report of a vehicle striking the bridge at Ely around 1.50pm today and is stuck under the bridge span that carries the single goods line. The other lines are unaffected.

“This incident is currently ongoing. Train services may be delayed until further notice while our engineers assess the condition of the bridge.”
